Invisible streams of spiritual energy that crisscross the entire world, the world streams are the very life blood of the planet. It's uncertain what specifically the world stream is composed of, and theories range from souls of the dead, to pure and untainted essence of life, or raw arcane force. What is certain, is that if a branch of one of the rivers dries up, all life begins to suffer. Plants wither, trees die. Lakes dry up and animals starve. The mere absence of the world streams can cause an absolute paradise to wane away into the most desolate of wastelands.
Magic too is effected by the prominence of the world streams, perhaps more so than the creatures that live there. In areas where the streams are weak, magic is weakened. Where the streams flow strongly, magic gains more power. And where one finds a nexus of enough streams, miracles are possible. The power of the streams does vary though, in a predictable manner.
The world streams are effected as much by the two moons as much as the seas and oceans (though they seem free of any solar influence), despite residing on a separate plane of existence. Their power ebbs and wanes with the lunar tides, being strongest with the light of the full moons, and weakest when the moons are new.
